2008 Daily Demos
“Creating Ideas to Take Back to Your Store”

For the sixth consecutive year, GREETINGS etc. magazine is partnering with GLM, a dmg world media business, to offer a series of interactive “Daily Demos” at the National Stationery Show. Each Demo will run 45 minutes and includes a make-and-take project for attendees. The Daily Demos are presented by leading experts in the stationery field, who are all exhibiting at the show. This year, each presenter will also be joined by one of their company’s retail customers to assist with the Demo. The schedule is as follows:

Sunday, May 18: Personalizing Stationery Products
11:30 a.m.: Hambly Studios
Presenter: Allison Kreft, graphic designer, Hambly Screen Prints.

Special Events

Party at the Rainbow Room, Sunday, May 18

6:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m.
Cost: $65 for individuals, $800 for corporate tables of 10

20th Annual International Greeting Card Awards, Monday, May 19

Celebrating the social stationery industry’s most creative minds, the Greeting Card Association once again will host the International Greeting Card Awards on Monday evening during the Show. Otherwise known as the LOUIES, the program recognizes ingenuity and originality with awards such as “Card of the Year.” Sponsorship and ticket information are available by contacting the Greeting Card Association, at (202) 393-1778. Operation Heartfelt Thanks
"Operation Heartfelt Thanks" will return in 2008. This wonderful program promotes the sending of written greetings to our soldiers via exhibitor-donated greeting cards.

All cards collected will be sent to A Million Thanks, an inspirational organization based in Orange, CA, that was started in 2004 by a 15-year-old high school student. A Million Thanks will distribute the messages to active service members both stateside and abroad, as well as wounded soldiers and veterans. Exhibitors wishing to donate product for "Operation Heartfelt Thanks" should contact Melissa Gray with the company name, onsite contact person, booth number, onsite phone number and email address.

Operation Caring Connection
“Operation Caring Connection” will provide soldiers with exhibitor-donated stationery to communicate with loved ones. In partnership with the United Service Organizations (USO), the program encourages exhibitors to donate blank greeting cards, non-occasion cards, boxed note cards, social stationery and writing instruments, which the USO will distribute through its Operation USO Care Package program. Exhibitors wishing to donate product at the close of the National Stationery Show will be asked to box the products, utilize a special shipping label provided at the Show, and leave the boxes in their empty booth for GLM to collect and ship to the USO.

Seminars
During the National Stationery Show, exhibitors and buyers may attend seminars led by industry experts, exploring a variety of business and product trends.
