Experts Provide Tips Sure to Generate Sales
— A series of live demonstrations will be presented at the National Stationery Show®
in the NSS Theater on the show floor. These lively programs are free and take place throughout the day Sunday through Tuesday of market week. The NSS takes place May 15 - 18, 2016 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

10:30 am - Wrapping With the Wow Factor
Internationally renowned gift wrapping expert Arona Khan
will share some of her top tips as she shows quick and easy ways to wrap a variety of shapes and use assorted ribbons to create a fabulous finishing touch. Included will be the “cheat pleat” - invaluable when paper is too short; and her signature "pouch" technique that doesn't require sticky tape.
U.K.-based Khan was named “the world’s first gift wrapping consultant” by Harpers & Queen magazine. She is internationally recognized for her innovative ideas, speedy techniques and lively presentations around the world. Coloring guru Joanne Fink of Zenspirations®
will offer ideas and marketing tips to help retailers capitalize on this wildly popular trend. She’ll discuss hosting in-store coloring events and how to feature coloring-related products. Attendees can participate in a coloring activity and the first 50 attendees will take away a swag bag filled with coloring products.
Fink, president of Zenspirations, is a Florida-based designer, calligrapher, inspirational speaker and best-selling author with more than one million Zenspirations books in print. Her latest series - “Create, Color, Pattern, Play!” are coloring books with a twist - she designs the pages so others can use them as a springboard for their own creative efforts. Fink has spent most of her 30-year career developing products for the gift, stationery, craft and faith-based industries, and has won six LOUIE Awards. Internationally renowned DIY designer Lia Griffith
, booth 1311, will twist, curl and stretch delicate crepe papers to create stunning flowers that last year round. Griffith’s exquisite creations include full bloom poppies to glorious peonies, all made using her own line of extra fine, German made, crepe papers in a color palette inspired by the garden. Fifty lucky attendees each day will take away a crepe paper flower keepsake made by the designer herself.
Griffith is an internationally known DIY designer, crafter, photographer and stylist. After realizing the demand for her unique paper flower designs, Griffith launched her handcrafted lifestyle blog, offering stunning DIY projects, printables and inspiration to millions worldwide. Retailer Melinda Morris, president and “principal visionary” of Lion in the Sun
in Brooklyn, NY, will be sharing and showing her favorite new trends and innovative products that she has found on the Show floor each day. She'll also discuss how-to’s for retailers to curate store space, select a focus and voice in the products carried, and important characteristics to look for when considering new wholesale vendors.
Morris grew up in the fine paper and stationery industry alongside her parents at the original Lion in the Sun on Long Island. More than 35 years later, she is a seasoned curator who's adept at spotting a hot trend, a unique vision, and innovative designers that are here to stay. She was named New York Magazine Wedding Guide’s Expert Stationer, is a contributor to wedding and stationery publications, and serves as a consultant for retailers and emerging greeting card and invitation lines. Lion in the Sun has been named one of the Top 25 Retailers in the country and Top 10 NYC Stationery Stores in Time Out New York for three years in a row.
