The NSS Valentine Challenge Winners Announced
“Design Our Valentines” Challenge Draws More Entries
White Plains, NY (January 17, 2018) — The National Stationery Show® (NSS) announced the winners of its second annual “Design Our Valentines” challenge. The contest invited exhibitors in the upcoming show to submit an original design. Three winning designs will be featured on printed, NSS Valentine’s Day mailers, digital messages, social media and the NSS website. The three categories are: Traditional, Contemporary and a new addition, “We love the NSS” — a design that incorporates the NSS logo or references NSS as part of the original design.
“Our Valentine’s Day design challenge is a unique but perfect way to show — and share — the creativity of our exhibitors and our love for this fun holiday,” said Kelly P. Bristol, the NSS Show Director. “Last year’s contest was so popular in the industry, with both participants and buyers, it was natural to continue and expand it to include a third category. Everyone loves to receive a card — especially a Valentine.”
“One of our finalists in the traditional category, Big Wheel Press, is releasing an 8×10 poster version of their “Love You So Much” Valentine card, along with an oversized red envelope for ambitious Valentine senders,” said Bristol. We love the excitement and creativity brought to the contest by our participants, said Bristol. “Why not hang this beautiful message in a nice spot all year long?”
With double the entries of last year, the NSS is pleased to announce these sweethearts as winners:
Winner: OXHIP Studio
“I want you baaaaad” is a funny little Valentine featuring an original illustration of a sheep. “This will be my first year attending the NSS and I am so excited to have won the contemporary genre,” said Liz Bradford of OXHIP Studio. “Illustrating cute animals and combining them with puns has always been one of my favorite design activities. After drawing this cheeky sheep, I knew she would be perfect on a Valentine.”
Finalists in this category were:
Boss Dotty Paper Co.
Winner: JooJoo Paper
Happy in love flying over the city of romance, this card pictures a sweet and innocent love. “I wanted to create a scene that speaks for itself, with a very short message, just enough to inspire the person that writes inside of the card,” said Afsaneh Tajvidi of JooJoo Paper. “The message could be ‘always in love’, ‘always happy together,’ etc.– it’s up to the card giver to decide.”
Finalists in this category were:
Big Wheel Press
Love the NSS
Winner: Elm Paper
The design features the vibrant NSS pink captured in watercolor with a touch of gold to compliment. “I am absolutely thrilled and honored that Elm Paper has been chosen as the winner of the We Love the NSS category on our debut at the prestigious NSS Show this coming May,” said Ella Munro of Elm Paper.
Finalists in this category:
Good Juju Ink
Halifax Paper Hearts
